Founded in Chennai (formerly Madras), India, in the 1970s, Original Madras Trading Company was born from a family history linked to textile trade. Initially specializing in the export of hand-woven Madras fabrics to the United States, the company also established itself in New York in the 1980s, supplying major American brands like J.Press and Ralph Lauren. In 2020, under the impetus of Sridhar Ganesan, the founder's grandson, OMTC launched its own clothing line, true to its artisanal heritage.
