The artisanal heritage behind hand-woven Madras shirts
The story begins in Chennai, formerly Madras, on the southeast coast of India. Since the 1970s, Original Madras Trading Company has perpetuated a hand-weaving craftsmanship inherited from generations of weavers. Unlike industrial prints, OMTC Madras shirts are authentically woven, thread by thread, on traditional looms. Each piece is unique due to its imperfections, or rather its lively variations.
Established in New York since the 1980s, OMTC supplied its fabrics to Ralph Lauren and J.Press, before launching its own line in 2020 under the direction of Sridhar Ganesan, the founder's grandson. The goal: to create modern clothing from traditional Madras fabric.

The Spring/Summer 2025 collection from Original Madras Trading Company has arrived at Parure. Men's Madras shirts come in vibrant checks, with warm and bright palettes. Lightweight and breathable, they are ideal for sunny days.
Alongside revisited classics, you'll also find overshirts and short-sleeved shirts cut from the same hand-woven cotton, true to Chennai's artisanal know-how. Pieces designed to last, evolve, and develop a patina over time.
